Background
About the song
Released on 8 May 2026 on BMG, «Summer Funk» is Francesco Gabbani writing a summer single that quietly argues with itself. The verses pile up images of status — a manicure, a lamp chosen for its look, a ring whose stone is worth exactly what its wearer is worth — and then ask a blunt question: you wanted to be on television, you got there, so why are you no longer sure? The chorus answers by refusing to answer. He calls himself magical, Italic and romantic, admits he has no money left, and keeps dancing on the razor’s edge anyway. The song launched the summer tour that opened on 12 June, marking ten years of his career.
Did you know?
The chorus rhymes «dinero» with «sentiero» — and «dinero» is Spanish, not Italian. Gabbani reaches across the border for the rhyme, in a song whose title is already English. There is also a biblical aside: the verse asks whether you remember Samson with the Philistines, the strongman undone by a haircut, dropped into a track about losing your edge.
