About Verbomatico

Verbomatico is a language-learning game built around real songs. Instead of drilling word lists, you learn with music you actually like: each song becomes a lesson in vocabulary, verbs, grammar, expressions and listening comprehension.

How it works

Watch the video and listen closely, then play quick challenges drawn from the song. As you practise, your song levels up, you collect cards, earn coins and awards, and compete against Verbomatico or other players in duels and battles. Every song is checked by our team before it goes live, so what you learn is accurate.

What you practise

Each song in the catalog is broken into five kinds of exercise. Vocabulary covers the words the song actually uses, with meanings, synonyms and antonyms. Verbs focus on the tenses and forms that appear in it. Grammar takes the structures the song leans on and asks you to rebuild them. Expressions deal with idioms and set phrases — the part of a language dictionaries handle badly. Comprehension checks whether you followed what the song is about. That mix is why a three-minute track can carry a whole lesson.

Ways to play

The quiz is the core: questions drawn from the song you picked. Speed is a solo vocabulary run against a shrinking clock, with lives, streaks and power-ups. A duel puts you head to head with another player on the same song in real time; a battle runs five rounds across five random cards; war is turn-based, and the winner takes a card from the loser. Everything you win pays out in coins, and coins buy new cards in the shop or on the player marketplace, where you can also sell the ones you no longer need.

Why songs

Songs repeat. A chorus hands you the same structure four or five times in three minutes, and the melody makes it stick in a way a word list does not. They are also the everyday register: contractions, slang, idioms and the speed real speakers use, none of which textbook audio prepares you for. And because you choose the music, you come back — the hardest part of learning a language is not the grammar, it is turning up again tomorrow.

How the material is made

Nothing is generated on the fly while you play. For every song the study material is written in advance — the word lists, the questions and the editorial notes you can read on each song page — and the whole set is reviewed before the card goes live. Songs are also scored for difficulty and placed on the CEFR scale, from A1 to C2, so the catalog tells you what you are getting into before you spend coins on a card. Your own level is worked out from the cards you have mastered, not from a placement test.

Languages

Verbomatico teaches across six interface languages — English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese — with a growing catalog of songs. New songs are added regularly.

Copyright and music

Verbomatico does not publish song lyrics or audio. Lyrics are never displayed in the app; we link out to third-party services such as YouTube and Spotify for playback. All song titles, lyrics and recordings belong to their respective owners. Our study material is original, and where a fragment of a song appears it is kept to a few words.
