Tucamacarena
by Baby K
An A2 card with a surprisingly specific vocabulary: contrabbando, ladri, galera, latitanti, sirena. Crime words, learned as a set, and a set is always easier to hold than the same number of unrelated nouns. Two entries are borrowed rather than Italian — favela from Portuguese, murales from Spanish — a reminder that Italian imports freely and often keeps the foreign shape. amarena, the sour cherry, is the odd one out and worth knowing if you ever order ice cream. The conditionals ruberesti and potrei cercarti hand you a grammar point above the grade. A2 is right for the words; the delivery is considerably faster than that.

Background
About the song
“Tucamacarena” is a 2026 Italian pop single by Baby K, an Italian rapper and pop artist known for breezy, danceable summer hits. Her records are a familiar part of the Italian summer-song tradition. The title winks at “Macarena”, the 1993 Los del Río song that became one of the best-selling dance records ever made, and the joke does exactly what a summer single is supposed to do. For a learner the card is unusually friendly: at A2 the lines are short and heavily repeated, built around imperatives and the present tense, which makes it a good place to practise listening at speed without needing much vocabulary. Released on 5 June 2026, it was written by Baby K with Daniele Chiarolanza and produced by Room9 — Gabriel Rossi (Kende), Lorenzo Santarelli and Marco Salvaderi. The video, directed by Amedeo Zancanella and filmed in the Quartieri Spagnoli of Naples, came a week later.
