About the song
«Vielleicht Vielleicht» — "maybe, maybe" — is a German indie-pop and synth-pop single by MilleniumKid with JBS, released by Warner Music on 20 October 2023. It lasts just two minutes and twenty-two seconds. MilleniumKid wrote and produced it himself, with production help from Benjamin Friedrich, known as Nasskalt; JBS contributes his voice. The song later became part of MilleniumKid’s debut album «Dystopie», released in April 2025.
MilleniumKid is the stage name of Yasin Sert, born in Gießen, Hesse, on 1 January 2000 — the very first day of the new millennium, which is where the name comes from. He only started making music in 2022, and he writes, produces and arranges everything alone. His sound mixes new wave, synth-pop and indie rock with touches of techno and drum and bass, and critics often place him in the so-called "new New German Wave" of the early 2020s, a generation of young acts reviving the synthesiser-driven German pop of the 1980s.
JBS is Jan Bennet Schemmer, born in 2005 in Ibbenbüren in the Münsterland. He started playing guitar at six, joined a school band at eleven and in 2021 began producing beats, which is why he first called himself "JBS Beats". The two had already scored together earlier in 2023 with «Unendlichkeit», a song that spread through a TikTok trend with more than twenty thousand user videos and went gold in Germany.
The story of «Vielleicht Vielleicht» is one of patience. It did not explode on release: it entered the German singles chart only in April 2024, at number 87, half a year after it came out. From there it kept growing, mostly through streaming and social media, and in July 2025 — almost two years after release — it reached the German top ten for the first time. Its peak, number six, came in September 2025. Few songs take that long to arrive.
The lyric is a portrait of a relationship at its end. The narrator hopes the other person still thinks of him from time to time and asks for a little more time before everything he has falls apart. He sees through a reassurance that is not true, asks the other to go far away and take the confusion with them, and imagines his pain burning out until only embers and ashes are left for the wind. The paradox that holds the song together is that he sends the person away while admitting he cannot let go.
