Background
About the song
«Postinho de Gasolina» («Little Petrol Station») is a sertanejo song by the Brazilian duo João Gustavo e Murilo, recorded with the singer Grelo. The official video, filmed at a live show and titled «Ao Vivo Em Goiânia», was published on the duo's YouTube channel on 7 August 2026, and within about six weeks the song had climbed to number one on Spotify's Brazilian chart. It was written by three songwriters, Vitor Ferrari, Matheus Araújo and Yego Valadares; the musical production is by Dudu Oliveira, the video was directed by André Caverna of Caverna Filmes, and the record label is Grannada Music.
João Gustavo e Murilo come from Mato Grosso do Sul, in the centre-west of Brazil, and belong to a generation of country singers who built their careers on the internet rather than on radio. They became known all over the country in 2019 with «Lençol Dobrado», a song that, according to the press of the time, was the most played track on Deezer in Brazil that year. Before that success they were already respected as songwriters: they wrote «Fala a Verdade», recorded by Maiara & Maraísa together with Jorge & Mateus, and songs recorded by stars such as Wesley Safadão and Léo Santana. Their first DVD was also recorded in 2019.
Grelo is the stage name of Gabriel Ângelo Furtado de Oliveira, born on 14 September 1997 in Anápolis, in the state of Goiás. He too started behind the scenes, writing for big names of Brazilian country music such as Gusttavo Lima, Luan Santana and Marília Mendonça. In 2024, encouraged by the duo Henrique & Juliano, he began to sing his own songs, released the album «É o Grelo» and reached the top of the charts with «Só Fé». He has explained that his roots are in seresta, a romantic style of the north-east, and that his music fits best in arrocha, a slow, dramatic genre that mixes romantic ballad and dance rhythm.
The song tells a simple story with a lot of humour. A man has lost his partner because of his nights out. He admits that he spent his evenings in little bars until late and that he practically lived at the doors of nightclubs. She warned him that she would leave, and he answered that she would never dare. Now she has done it, she has blocked him on her phone, and he wakes up at dawn drunk and full of longing. He begs her to pick up, to answer his messages and to have pity on him, and he makes a promise: if she comes back into his life, she will never again see him stumbling along the avenues outside petrol stations, and he will block every other woman on his phone. In many Brazilian towns the shops at petrol stations stay open late and are a familiar meeting point for drinking at night, which is why that image makes listeners laugh. At the end Grelo adds a short spoken tag, as artists often do in live sertanejo recordings.
