Background
About the song
«Olivia la Flaka» is a song by the Mexican singer Natanael Cano with three guests: Tito Double P, Víctor Mendívil and the Cuban-born rapper Ovi. It was released as a single on 24 September 2026 and lasts five minutes and thirty-six seconds, which is long for a track of this kind, because each of the four voices gets its own section. According to the Mexican music site Propuestas Musicales, which cites Apple Music, it came out under Rancho Humilde and Los CT Records, with distribution by Sony Music Entertainment US Latin. The four singers are credited as the writers, and the production is by Dovleu, Wicked Outside and Pimp Rulo.
The public heard the song before it reached the streaming platforms. Natanael Cano opened his Mexican tour «Natanael Cano, Vol. 1» with two nights at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, and according to the press release sent to the media, on the first of those nights he brought Tito Double P, Víctor Mendívil and Ovi onto the stage to sing it together for the first time. For Cano it was the first new release after the album «Natanael Cano, Vol. 1», a project that the magazine ¡Hola! described as a return to the corridos tumbados that made him famous.
The title comes from a cartoon. In the Spanish-speaking world Olive Oyl, the very thin girlfriend of Popeye the Sailor, is called «Olivia», and «flaca» means skinny; the artists spell it with a «k», a playful spelling that is common in urban music. Several Mexican outlets, among them La Razón, explain that the name also hides a pun on olive oil, and that the official video borrows the look of the old cartoon. Popeye gets his strength from a can of spinach. In the song, the spinach becomes a double meaning: a code word that has nothing to do with vegetables.
That double meaning sets the tone of the whole track. The lyrics are explicit and are not meant for children. They paint a world of excess, with money, luxury cars, designer clothes, weapons, parties and drugs, told with exaggeration, dark humour and constant boasting. The singers present themselves as untouchable characters who hardly sleep, move fast and laugh at everybody who looks at them. It is a fiction built on bravado, like much of the trap and the corridos bélicos of recent years, and it works better as a character sketch than as a confession. Musically it moves away from the guitars of the classic corrido tumbado towards trap and hip-hop beats, a mix that the Mexican press underlined when it came out.
