Background
About the song
«Per noi» is a single by Geolier, the Neapolitan rapper whose real name is Emanuele Palumbo, recorded with the Roman singer Achille Lauro. It came out on 11 September 2026 on Atlantic Italy and Warner Music Italy and lasts three minutes and fifty seconds. According to Italian Wikipedia it belongs to the deluxe edition of «Tutto è possibile», the album Geolier released in January 2026. The two artists announced it on 7 September with a short video on their social media profiles, and the Italian press presented it as their first official collaboration.
The duet grew out of a concert. On 19 June 2026, during Geolier's stadium tour, Achille Lauro joined him on stage at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome and the two performed «Fotografia», one of Geolier's best-known songs. A few weeks later they were working on a song of their own. The lyrics are credited to Geolier, Achille Lauro and Davide Petrella, a songwriter also known as Tropico, and some sources add further co-writers; the production is by Sottomarino, a producer who has worked with Geolier for years.
Unlike much of Geolier's catalogue, «Per noi» is not a rap track but a slow love ballad built on piano, strings and guitar. The magazine Sorrisi e Canzoni TV called it a heartfelt ballad and read it as a song written after a break-up: a simple love that cannot go back to what it was after a mistake, but that still matters. The women's magazine Donna Glamour described it as the meeting of two cities, the Neapolitan identity of one artist and the Roman identity of the other.
Our own reading of the lyric is that the song is a conversation with someone who is far away. The narrator asks where she is and what she is doing, tells her that he wanted to give her everything, and hears her reply that everything, in the end, is the two of them together. He has waited for her in the rain, he cannot stop thinking about her, and he insists that nobody else could understand what they shared. Towards the end the couple admit that they spent time apart and with other people, and that it never felt the same; what happened between them, they say, was not a chance encounter but a discovery.
The verse in standard Italian brings a different voice and a different mood. It speaks of being only a step away from the other person and from paradise, of life as perhaps nothing more than learning to stay close to someone, and of not looking back, whatever happens, even if life turns into a road that no longer leads home. After it, the chorus comes back once in standard Italian before returning to Neapolitan, so the same feeling is heard in two languages, one after the other.
