Background
About the song
«Lontano», Italian for "far away", is a single by the Milanese rapper Sfera Ebbasta, the stage name of Gionata Boschetti. It came out on 22 September 2026 as the first single from «Purosangue», his seventh studio album, which Universal Music Italia announced for 11 December 2026. Boschetti wrote the text himself, and the beat was produced by Drillionaire, the producer Diego Vincenzo Vettraino. Italian media presented the release as the opening of a new chapter: about a year and a half after «Santana Money Gang», the joint album he made with the rapper Shiva, Sfera returned on his own with a slow, reflective track instead of a party anthem.
For almost ten years Sfera Ebbasta has been the face of Italian trap, a style built on bravado, luxury brands, fast cars and the celebration of money. «Lontano» turns that image around. Reviewers at Rolling Stone Italia and at the radio station Radio 105 both described it as a song about the price of fame: the narrator has reached the top, sells out arenas and wears expensive chains, and yet he feels misunderstood, tired and cut off from the people he loved. Rolling Stone Italia compared the mood to «Bottiglie privè», a confessional track from his 2020 album «Famoso».
The chorus repeats one wish: to go far away from fame and from everything it has taken from him. The verses explain why. The singer admits that anger sometimes makes him lose control, that he has stopped talking and started smoking more, and that success could easily become a sentence rather than a prize. He mentions his late father, his young son Gabriel and the fear that a broken relationship could keep him away from the boy. He also looks back at the place he comes from, a working-class area on the edge of Milan where children grow up fast, wear hand-me-down sweatshirts that are too big for them and know people who have ended up in San Vittore, the city's historic prison.
The third part moves between extremes: the singer describes nights spent in the dark and concert dates that sell out, the feeling of hitting rock bottom and then touching the sky. He says he has learned that men also cry, only without letting anyone see it, and that people often understand what they had only after losing it. The track closes with a short spoken passage about gold that can be stolen, kingdoms that can fall and a bloodline that outlives generations, which leads straight into the title of the album: «Purosangue» means "thoroughbred".
