About the song
«An meiner Seite» — "by my side" — is a dance-pop Schlager single by Helene Fischer, released on 4 September 2026 on Polydor, part of Universal Music. It is the second preview of her next studio album, following «Heute Nacht», the song that had given her the biggest chart summer of her career a few months earlier. The track was written by a team of six — Jules Kalmbacher, Alex Christensen, Lukas Hilbert, Bonito Julio, Claudio Macalvo and Shaun Baker — and produced by Kalmbacher, Christensen and Hilbert. Driving synthesizers and a club beat sit under a big, clearly sung melody: the press called it a late-summer anthem.
The song had a life before its release. Fischer first performed it, still unreleased, on her 360° stadium tour of summer 2026, which ran from 10 June in Dresden to 17 July in Munich and played to some 750,000 people in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, on a stage set in the middle of the pitch with catwalks leading to four satellite stages. During the number she performed an aerial acrobatic routine in a silver outfit together with her husband, the acrobat Thomas Seitel. Fan videos of that moment passed twenty million views before the studio version was out, and the official video for the single is a live recording from the tour.
Helene Fischer was born in August 1984 in Krasnoyarsk, in Siberia, and moved with her family to Wöllstein in Rhineland-Palatinate at the age of three. She trained at a stage and musical school in Frankfurt, made her television debut in 2005 and released her first album a year later. «Atemlos durch die Nacht» (2013) turned her from the biggest name in Schlager into one of the best-selling artists in German-language music of any genre, with more than eighteen million records sold and seventeen Echo awards.
The lyrics are a declaration of loyalty. The singer describes a partner who stays with her through everything: when the world falls apart, by day and by night, in strength and in weakness, in joy and in pain. The images are big and simple — a torch in the wind, a melody that never stops, the colours of a picture book, two bright stars — which is exactly what the genre asks for and exactly what makes the song easy to follow for a learner.
